Best Seasons for Surfing in Ixtapa Zihuatanejo

According to the current season, certain beaches may have better conditions for the practice of this water sport.

1. Surfing in Barra de Potosí

Barra de Potosí is a beach with very good waves for Surfing, it is not frequent that the right conditions are given since there are several factors in its nature for these mythical waves to occur.

They are usually very long left waves with fast sections as well as other parts of their route to cut back.

The direction of the waves that most benefit you in Barra de Potosí is from the West and winds from the East (East).

This part of the beach is protected from the big waves of the South by Cerro del Huamilule, if the other very particular factors of Barra de Potosí if they present usually form spectacular waves.

2. Las Gatas Beach in Zihuatanejo Bay

This fabulous Wave is one of the best Left in Mexico, rarely does the necessary waves to open these waves so special for Local Surfers.

Las Gatas is a very important reef to know and take care of for its natural beauty.

3. Escolleras Ixtapa Beach

Las Escolleras is one of the closest beaches and crowded by locals, it is at the end at the northern end of Playa el Palmar in Ixtapa.

It is a beach break with strong waves, normally the wave works well in spring and summer, suitable for intermediate and advanced surfers level.

4. Playa Linda

Very close to Ixtapa is one of the most consistent points in wave seasons in the Area, surfing in Playa Linda takes place on a wide area mainly in front of the Fonatur Trailer Park and beyond the mouth of the river.

5. La Saladita Beach

La Saladita is undoubtedly one of the world’s paradises for Longboard Surfing, surfers experts in this category of surfboards visits her every year.

It is an important place to visit for Surfers in search of the Perfect Waves, there are usually visitors closely related to Surf Tourism from different countries, the place retains balance in its architecture and respect for the environment.

It is also suitable for Surf Lessons, on the beach there are very good Surf Schools that you can find located on the beach, however it is appropriate to book them in advance.

6. Troncones

One of the favorite places for Surfing is Troncones, with very good waves during: spring, summer and autumn; it commonly features defined peaks along the beach.

It is also an excellent beach for training, learning and level improvement in Surfing, this by exceeding the capabilities demanded by athletes the power of their waves.

To explore and get to know Troncones better in the Surf you will have to visit the beach break, reef and rock point near this beach area.

Troncones is one of the best surf spots mainly for Intermediate Surfers with enough experience as well as advanced.

For beginners in Surfing in Troncones it is suitable to learn through surf lessons for safety, several Surf Schools are located in the community.

7. The Ranch

Playa el Rancho is already a place of reference in Surfing, it is currently very visited by locals and foreigners.

There are normally good wave conditions, mainly athletes travel in shortboard and longboard on long-distance left waves on their boards

Most likely El Rancho is the place with the best waves during the mornings around spring, summer and autumn; occasionally there is also good waves several weeks during the winter.
